Ed Croft is a Tenor Saxophonist who has lived and performed in San Diego, New Orleans, and Los Angeles.

Returning to San Diego in 2014, he re-established himself on the local music scene, reconnecting with many musicians he played with previously as well as new musicians. Known for his big warm tone and melodic ideas, his approach to playing has been compared to that of a vocalist, where melody and style are of importance. Ed has recorded and performed with numerous artists and bands, including his own, in a variety of musical genres from Swing, Rhythm-n-Blues, Rock, Latin, New Orleans Funk, Cajun, Zydeco, Ska, and Reggae.

Music

Ed Croft has been playing Tenor Sax with various bands I’ve had since the 1990’s, and has been Blue Largo’s primary sax man for the past five years. Ed is a genuine rhythm and blues/soul sax player in the vain of Lee Allen, Clifford Scott, Jr. Walker and King Curtis. He’s also an incredibly expressive and exciting musician, who wows our audiences, as well as our other band members, every time we play. And having been my main partner in creating the horn arrangements for our new album “You Gotta Believe,” he’s also great to have on board in the studio. But maybe most important of all, Ed is a real team player, who’s always focused on making the band the very best it can be!

Eric Lieberman, Guitarist/Band Leader for Blue Largo

Eddie Croft and that rich, tenor sax just kills.

Tim Mattox, San Diego Troubadour CD Review Blue Largo: Got to Believe

Ed Croft is the whole enchilada, baby! From wailing vintage rock & roll to sweet ballads and beyond, he makes the music feel deeper.

Sven Erick-Seaholm, Artist/Producer

We had an amazing party. Food and wine were great, but what made it special was Ed Croft performing his sax. Nothing compares to live music, especially if it is high quality, like Ed’s performance. My son is a young saxophone player and it was a gift for him to hear Ed play.

Pietro Di Giammarino, CFO Pinsarella Pinsa Roman Pizza Crust

Ed Played sax at our wedding ceremony and he brought the house down. He added just the right ambiance and helped make it a memorable day.

Zach DiFazio-Farrell, Groom

Ed’s sax playing can be summoned up in two words: Tone and Taste. He was perfect on our newest CD “Soul Survivor”. Bonus, Ed has a positive attitude and demeanor and is just a straight up cool guy to hang with off stage too.

Scottie Blinn, Guitarist Black Market III
