Ed Croft is a Tenor Saxophonist who has lived and performed in San Diego, New Orleans, and Los Angeles.
Returning to San Diego in 2014, he re-established himself on the local music scene, reconnecting with many musicians he played with previously as well as new musicians. Known for his big warm tone and melodic ideas, his approach to playing has been compared to that of a vocalist, where melody and style are of importance. Ed has recorded and performed with numerous artists and bands, including his own, in a variety of musical genres from Swing, Rhythm-n-Blues, Rock, Latin, New Orleans Funk, Cajun, Zydeco, Ska, and Reggae.
Live Performances
As a professional musician, Ed has performed extensively throughout the U.S. and overseas in clubs, private events, and major music festivals. Currently, he can be heard performing live with some of the best musicians and bands in San Diego. He also leads his own group, Ed Croft and the Heptights, performing timeless hit songs from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Recordings and Bands
Ed Croft is available for recording studio sessions or bands looking to add a professional and positive saxophonist to their project. He also plays Alto and Baritone Saxophones, Keyboards, and writes arrangements for small horn sections. In 2022 and 2023, he was a featured soloist and arranger for Blue Largo’s “Got to Believe”, saxophonist on Black Market III’s “Soul Survivor” and Sven Erick-Seaholm’s “Oxford Comma” albums.
